Vertigo specialist for Prayagraj patients — what changes online
Prayagraj is around 290 kilometres from Hardoi — about 5 to 6 hours by road. For most Prayagraj patients, an in-person trip to my clinic is not a quick weekend plan. That is exactly why an online vertigo consultation makes the most sense as a starting point.
What I can do over video for a Prayagraj patient: a careful history (the single most important step in vertigo), a review of any audiogram or MRI you already have, a focused observation of your eye movements during specific positions, a clear diagnosis in most cases, and an honest second opinion on the medicines and treatment you have been prescribed so far.
What I cannot do over video: perform a repositioning maneuver myself, run VNG / fHIT / posturography testing, or do any procedure that needs hands on the patient. For BPPV — by far the most common cause of vertigo I see — the diagnosis is almost always made online; the maneuver itself I refer to a colleague in Prayagraj or Allahabad whom I know runs a vestibular-aware practice.
BPPV in Prayagraj — what gets missed
If your dizziness comes in short episodes triggered by rolling in bed, looking up at a fan, or bending forward to pick something up, BPPV is the first diagnosis I want to rule in or out. Most Prayagraj patients who reach me with “vertigo” turn out to have BPPV that was never properly localised — which canal, which side. Without that information, even a correct maneuver attempted at the wrong canal will not work.
BPPV is mechanical, not pharmaceutical. There is no medicine that fixes BPPV. The fix is a precise repositioning maneuver — Epley, Semont, Gufoni, or for the rare anterior canal variant the Bangalore Maneuver I developed and published in peer-reviewed journals. Each canal needs a different maneuver. That is why diagnosis must come before treatment.
When you must see someone in person, locally in Prayagraj
An online consultation works for most vertigo cases — but not all. Head to the nearest hospital in Prayagraj the same day if any of the following is true:
- Sudden hearing loss in one ear, with or without vertigo — an ENT emergency. Steroids work if started within 24 to 48 hours; they do not work after two weeks.
- Vertigo with new severe headache, double vision, weakness, slurred speech, or difficulty walking — needs neurological evaluation and imaging the same day.
- Vertigo after a head injury — needs in-person assessment and imaging.
- Continuous vertigo for more than three days without let-up — could be vestibular neuritis, but other things need to be ruled out.
For BPPV maneuvers and vestibular testing, I will refer you to a Prayagraj-based clinician with clear instructions on what to ask for. The point of our online consultation is to make sure that whoever sees you next in Prayagraj already knows exactly what is wrong.
Languages and patient profile
Prayagraj sits in the Hindi-Awadhi belt. I consult comfortably in Hindi, English, and Awadhi. Many of my Prayagraj patients are senior citizens whose families want a second opinion before agreeing to a procedure, students at Allahabad University and other institutions whose vertigo started during exam stress, and working professionals whose episodes are interfering with travel and focus.

Q2. Can vertigo be treated online for Prayagraj patients?
Yes, very effectively. Online consultation allows me to take a detailed history, assess your symptoms through video assessment, and guide you through diagnostic tests if needed. For most cases-including medication management, exercises, and lifestyle changes-online is completely sufficient. If you need hands-on maneuver treatment like the Epley or Bangalore Maneuver, I can guide you through it step by step over video, or we can arrange a local referral.
Q3. What is BPPV and how is it treated?
BPPV stands for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. It happens when tiny calcium carbonate crystals in your inner ear get dislodged from their normal position. These crystals move around in the fluid-filled canals of your ear, triggering dizziness and spinning sensations-especially when you move your head or change positions. I treat BPPV with specific maneuvers like the Epley or my specialized Bangalore Maneuver, which reposition these crystals back to their normal place. Most patients get relief within one or two sessions.
Q4. How long does vertigo treatment take?
It varies depending on what’s causing your vertigo. BPPV maneuver treatment is a brief in-clinic procedure. Online consultations take as long as the case needs, with no fixed slot length. For other causes of vertigo, treatment might involve medications, exercises, or lifestyle modifications-these work over days or weeks. Some conditions improve within days, others take 2-3 weeks of consistent follow-up. I’ll give you a clear timeline during your consultation based on your specific diagnosis.

Q5. Is the Bangalore Maneuver safe to do at home?
The Bangalore Maneuver is a specialised in-clinic technique I perform myself for anterior canal BPPV. I do not recommend self-administering it at home. The reason is simple — performing the wrong maneuver on the wrong canal will not work and can occasionally make symptoms briefly worse. Diagnosis must come first. After our online consultation, if your case needs the Bangalore Maneuver or any other repositioning maneuver, you either travel to Hardoi for a single in-person session, or I refer you to a colleague near Prayagraj whom I trust to do it correctly.
Q6. What tests are needed before online consultation?
Most online consultations don’t require advance testing-history and physical examination are often sufficient. However, if you have access to certain tests, they’re helpful: audiometry (hearing test) helps rule out Meniere’s disease, VNG (videonystagmography) provides objective eye movement data, or MRI/CT if you’ve had imaging done. You don’t need these tests to start-bring whatever records you have, and we’ll determine if additional testing is needed based on your symptoms and initial assessment.
Q7. What is the cost of online consultation?
The consultation fee is very affordable and reasonable for specialist care. I discuss pricing when you contact me via WhatsApp at 7393062200 or call directly. The cost depends on consultation complexity and whether any follow-up is needed. Prescription medications are inexpensive and available at any pharmacy. Maneuver-based treatment costs nothing extra-it’s part of the consultation. No hidden charges, I promise complete transparency about costs upfront.
Q8. Can vertigo come back after treatment?
BPPV can recur in about 15-30% of patients, even after successful treatment. But here’s the good news-if it comes back, it responds to treatment again with similar success rates. I teach patients preventive exercises and lifestyle modifications that significantly reduce recurrence risk. Many of my treated patients don’t experience recurrence for years or ever. If vertigo does return, contact me and we’ll schedule another treatment session-recurrence is not a treatment failure, it’s just a characteristic of BPPV in some people.
