ENT & Vertigo Care · India-wide Consultation

ENT & Vertigo Specialist in India for Vertigo, BPPV and balance disorders. Because a spinning world deserves a specialist, not a guess.

I am Dr. Prateek Porwal — DNB ENT, CAMVD certified, with over 13 years treating vertigo and inner-ear disease. We use a full vestibular work-up (VNG, fHIT, posturography) so diagnosis is data-based, not guess-based. In-person care is available at Prime ENT Center; online guidance is available across India.

What we treat

Vertigo, imbalance and inner-ear conditions — in adults and children.

Every patient gets a structured vestibular work-up before any medicine is written. Guessing at vertigo wastes months. Measuring it doesn't.

i.

BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo)

Posterior, lateral and anterior canal BPPV — including canal jam and canal switch cases other clinics have given up on.

ii.

Vestibular Neuritis & Labyrinthitis

Sudden one-sided vestibular failure with nausea, imbalance and spinning sensation lasting days to weeks.

iii.

Vestibular Migraine

Migraine that presents as dizziness, motion intolerance and brain-fog — often misdiagnosed for years as "cervical".

iv.

Ménière's Disease

Recurrent vertigo attacks, fluctuating hearing loss and ear fullness. Managed with diet, medication and vestibular rehab.

Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD)

Chronic dizziness that hangs on after the trigger has gone. Responds to a combined vestibular + SSRI + VRT approach.

Paediatric Vertigo

Children do get vertigo — vestibular migraine of childhood, BPPV, labyrinthitis. We test them gently, without anaesthesia.

Vestibular Lab

Not just a chair and a prescription pad. A real diagnostic lab.

Most dizziness patients in India are handed a Vertin tablet and sent home. That is not medicine, that is surrender. Here is what an actual vertigo workup looks like.

Test 01

Videonystagmography (VNG)

High-speed infrared cameras record every eye movement during positional and caloric testing — so we can see the nystagmus the eye hides from us.

Test 02

functional Head Impulse Test (fHIT)

Tests each of the six semicircular canals separately. The only way to catch subtle canal paresis that VNG misses.

Test 03

Equipoise Posturography

Quantifies balance across six sensory conditions. Essential for fall-risk scoring in elderly patients and for tracking rehab progress.

Test 04

Online Vertigo Consultation

For patients who cannot travel. Structured tele-consult with history scoring and bedside video review. Not a quick WhatsApp chat.

About the doctor

Thirteen years, two fellowships and one stubborn idea — that vertigo is a solvable problem.

I completed MBBS from GSVM Medical College Kanpur, DNB ENT from Tata Main Hospital Jamshedpur, and my vestibular training (CAMVD) from Yenepoya University Mangalore, with further clinical work in Bangalore and Kolkata. I run Prime ENT Center in Hardoi as a solo clinician-researcher because I wanted the vestibular lab to match the one I trained on — not a cheaper version of it.

Don't wait. Your vertigo won't.

Every month of "let's see if it settles" is another month of falls, missed work, and a brain that gets worse at compensating. Book a proper workup instead.

Frequently asked

The questions patients actually ask before booking.

If yours isn't here, get in touch — I read enquiries myself.

How do I choose a vertigo specialist?

You want someone with a full vestibular lab (VNG, fHIT, posturography), formal neurotology training, and a track record in peer-reviewed publications. Ask whether they examine the eyes during positional tests, whether they use objective testing, and whether they explain which canal and which side is involved. If the answer is "take these tablets for a month and come back", that's not vestibular medicine.

What is BPPV and how is it treated?

BPPV is the most common cause of spinning vertigo. Tiny calcium particles (otoconia) fall out of place and land inside one of the semicircular canals of the inner ear. It is not "low BP", it is not "weakness", it is not "acidity". It is mechanical and it is fixable — usually in 1 to 3 sessions — with canalith repositioning manoeuvres like Epley, Semont or Gufoni. For the rarer anterior canal BPPV, we use the Bangalore manoeuvre.

What tests are done to diagnose vertigo?

Bedside tests first: Dix-Hallpike, supine roll test, head shake test, head impulse test, positional testing. Then, if needed: VNG for detailed eye recording, fHIT for individual canal testing, audiometry and OAE for the hearing side, and posturography for balance scoring. A good history is 70% of the diagnosis — the tests confirm it.

Do you offer online consultation?

Yes — for patients across India who cannot travel in person. It's a structured tele-consult (review of prior reports, symptom walkthrough, targeted advice), not a two-minute WhatsApp message. Book through the clinic number 7393062200.

Can you help patients travelling from other cities?

Yes. Patients plan visits from across India. If you're travelling long-distance, we structure the visit around a single-day diagnostic block — history, bedside testing, VNG/fHIT, audiometry and treatment planning — so you don't waste the trip.

How much does a vertigo consultation cost?

Consultation charges are kept modest — significantly less than what you would pay at a metro tertiary centre. The lab tests (VNG, fHIT, posturography) are priced individually based on what you actually need, not as a fixed "package". Call 7393062200 for exact current rates.

Do I need a reference from another doctor?

No. You can walk in, or book directly. If you have earlier reports, bring them — they save time and help me not repeat tests you've already done.
