High-speed infrared cameras record every eye movement during positional and caloric testing — so we can see the nystagmus the eye hides from us.
Assesses gaze stability during head movement and may add information when vestibular function needs closer evaluation.

You want someone with a full vestibular lab (VNG, fHIT, posturography), formal neurotology training, and a track record in peer-reviewed publications. Ask whether they examine the eyes during positional tests, whether they use objective testing, and whether they explain which canal and which side is involved. If the answer is "take these tablets for a month and come back", that's not vestibular medicine.
BPPV is a common cause of brief spinning triggered by head movement. It occurs when inner-ear particles move into a semicircular canal. A clinician can identify the affected pattern with positional testing and discuss an appropriate repositioning manoeuvre. Treatment response and the number of visits vary.
Diagnosis starts with the symptom history and clinical examination. Depending on the pattern, a clinician may use positional tests, hearing tests, VNG, fHIT, posturography or other investigations. No single test is appropriate for every patient.
Online guidance may be suitable for some non-emergency concerns. It cannot replace every physical or vestibular examination, and the clinician may advise in-person or emergency assessment. Contact the clinic to ask which route is appropriate.
